Most older CCTV DVRs and NVRs were originally designed to work only with Internet Explorer (IE). Since Microsoft officially discontinued Internet Explorer, many users face issues opening their CCTV web links in modern browsers.
To fix this, Microsoft has added an Internet Explorer (IE) Mode inside Microsoft Edge. This allows you to run older CCTV web interfaces that rely on IE. However, you need to manually enable this function in Edge before your CCTV link will work.
How to enable Internet Explorer Mode in Microsoft Edge to access CCTV DVR/NVR – Enable IE Mode
Follow the steps below to set it up to enable IE mode:
But before enabling it, make sure your CCTV device is properly connected on same network.
Step 1. Open Microsoft Edge and type your CCTV’s IP address in the browser address bar.

Step 2. Once the page loads, copy the CCTV URL and save it to your Favorites for quick access later.
Step 3. Click on the three-dot menu (⋯) in the top-right corner of the browser, then select Settings.

Step 3. In the Settings panel, go to the Default Browser section (from the left menu). On the right side, locate the Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode section.

Step 3. Click the Add button, paste your CCTV link/URL, and save it.

After adding successfully, the CCTV link will be enabled and saved in Edge.

Reopen the CCTV link from your Favorites or by typing the IP address again.
This time, the link will open in compatibility mode and your CCTV login page should work without issues.
